Transport classification shown is for the product as we typically supply it. Concentration, pack size, and quantity all affect the actual classification on a given shipment — the shipping paper that travels with the load is authoritative.
Sixteen sections, always in the same order. Knowing which is which turns a five-minute hunt into a ten-second one.
Section 2 — Hazard identification. Signal word, hazard statements, pictograms. Read before the product is handled for the first time.
Section 4 — First aid. Post this at the point of use. It is the section someone needs while they are already in trouble, which is the worst moment to be searching a PDF.
Section 8 — Exposure controls and PPE. Exposure limits and the protection actually required. Glove material matters here; not all nitrile performs the same against all solvents.
Section 9 — Physical and chemical properties. pH, specific gravity, flash point, boiling point. Where most process engineering questions get answered.
Section 10 — Stability and reactivity. Incompatible materials. Read this before deciding what gets stored next to what — most storage incidents trace back to this section being skipped.
Section 14 — Transport information. UN number, proper shipping name, hazard class, packing group. Required for any shipping paperwork you generate.
Revision dates matter
An SDS is a controlled document. Section 16 carries the revision date, and a sheet more than a few years old may not reflect the current classification. If a binder copy at your site disagrees with ours, use ours and replace the binder copy.
An SDS is not a specification
It gives typical properties and hazard information, not the guaranteed analytical values for the lot you received. If your process depends on a tight assay window, the document you want is the Certificate of Analysis.
If your approval process needs something that is not here, one email gets it.
Certificates, insurance, registrations, safety data sheets, and completed supplier questionnaires. Standard documents go out the same business day.
